Frostbite Rides

In New England there is a sailing tradition that involves sailing dinghy's through the winter season. These races are referred to as "Frostbite Racea " as they are held even when the temperature is below freezing. I have been cycling on days when the temperature is above freezing but have yet to brave going out on my bicycle when it is below freezing. The sailboat races tend to be of short duration, 30 minutes or less so the cold does not get too hard to take. My 66 year old bones retired from frostbite racing more than 10 years ago. I have replaced it today with frostbite cycling distinguished by rides of less than 30 minute duration when the temperature is below freezing.

Repurposed iPhone 4 for health tracking

I have reused my iPhone 4 as a health tracker with the help of 3 apps. The apps include Moves, MyFitnessPal, and Runkeeper. Moves tracks all my daily activities and creates a timeline and summary of my walking, biking and car transportation. I carry my iPhone 4 in my pants pocket. It will even automatically track treadmill walks. MyFitnessPal allows me to track food intake and Runkeeper which I have used since 2008 tracks all my cycling and walking activities.
